In our latest instalment of our ‘Why I use North’ interview series with leading advisers, we spoke with Anthony Jury of Anthony Jury & Associates in Sydney1. Anthony has over 23 years of experience in the financial services industry, including more than three years running his own business.
When he’s not working, Anthony spends time with his family, reading and enjoying Sydney’s world-class beaches. We asked Anthony why he chooses North. Here’s what he had to say.
What was your first experience with North?
I began using North when it first launched in 2007, and that expanded as many of our clients looked for new investment solutions as they were introduced. What first struck me was the platform’s simplicity. It’s not at all clunky to use, and North’s user experience and development have consistently been market-leading.
What aspects of North have made the biggest difference to your business?
We’ve really valued North’s constant innovation, which helps us stay ahead of industry changes. One standout feature where North has been particularly ahead is responding to legislative change.
For example, we’ve benefited greatly from North’s digital consent process. It’s freed up a lot of resources and helped us enormously.
It shows that you’re a cutting-edge platform, and we value the work that goes into ensuring new features are simple, straightforward and user-friendly.
What are the top reasons you use North?
- Simplicity and efficiency across the platform are major drawcards. Whether that’s setting up accounts, reversionary pensions, super accounts, or organising rollovers, it’s seamless compared to competitors.
- Managed portfolios. North has done an amazing job with the breadth of its offer across managed portfolios, and the speed of information to clients is exceptional.
- Expert support. Call centre staff are extremely knowledgeable and diligent. They won’t give out information without a password in place, which is something I appreciate.
The call centre representatives are some of the best I’ve dealt with, and I can’t stress enough how much we value their support.
What's been your best client outcome with North?
I had a number of prospective clients who were hesitant to use an adviser. I was able to build rapport with one particular client using the North dashboard and the information it provides.
With clients, I could use direct shares, capital notes, managed funds, and ETFs.
You don’t understand that until you’ve been through it a few times, and with North, it’s easy to set up complex portfolios for clients based on tailored Statements of Advice.
What's North’s biggest timesaver?
Leveraging North’s managed portfolios makes it easy to scale up the volume of business we do, and the information flow to clients is exceptionally fast, which they appreciate.
The innovations and range of investment options and structures available on the North platform allow my team to select and deliver outstanding investment outcomes for our clients that are both unique and bespoke in design.
How do North’s support team help you get things done?
I can’t recommend North’s support team enough. I recently had problems during an in-branch bank transfer, and a North operator sat on the phone with me for over two hours to get that transfer completed.
That person’s knowledge really helped a lot and added legitimacy to the whole process.
What advice would you give to newly qualified advisers using North?
Put your time into it to understand the fundamentals of the platform. Do sample work and run mock scenarios to ensure you’re compliant. Talk to people who are familiar with it and understand the call centre and how it works.
Respect it because it’s one of the things that will help you drive efficiencies, keep your clients happy, and help them meet their real time objectives.
